Postcard Direct
You might wonder why the world needs another postcard CGI.
You might wonder why the world needs another postcard CGI.
Postcard Direct is different because it sends the postcard direct to the recipient. Most other postcard scripts:
Make the recipient access a web site and use some complicated random ticket number to view the postcard. Bummer if the web site is down, the recipient has
been on holiday for a while and the postcard has expired or if they have email access only.
Keep a database of postcard tickets. This involves all the overhead and maintance of operating a database. Why complicate matters?

Features
Sends the image direct to the recipient through MIME encoded mail (apart from receipients with web based mailers). Has the option to send the image as an
attachment for recipients without HTML capable mail clients.
Fully customisable through HTML templates. Every page from the input form through to the sending page is seperate from the script, so that your web designers
don't have to hack any perl code.
Supports as many postcard designs as you want to define.
Keeps a full log of all postcards sent allowing you to see which features and options are most popular and to better taylor the design for the users needs.
Bad users (ie: people who abuse the Postcard Direct service) can be defined in a lookup file along with various actions:
1.Pretend the postcard has been sent while silently trashing the postcard.
2.Display the user a predefined message. Could be something like "Server Error", "User restricted" etc.
3.Email an alert to a person.
Note that this feature is not available until the next version.
